Stafford Rangers Football Club

From the depths back to respectability...

As a life-long fan and volunteer I found myself increasingly involved with the football club when it hit difficult times in 2014, after successive relegations and mounting financial worries.

Always having a reasoned view across social media platforms and having many friends around the club I was appointed the club’s first ever Fans’ Representative and appointed as part of a newly formed Non-Executive Committee to help guide the club through troubled waters.

The next seven years saw me take on communications between the club and our fans, help run our various social media platforms and write articles and reports for our website, write a weekly Staffordshire Newsletter column, and write reports for the national Non-League Paper.

Within two years of my appointment, in a new organisation, the club achieved promotion and steadied the ship, financially. This laid foundations for a period of stability and moving forward, as the collective group pulled together and communications between fans and the club improved, with projects taking place to help the club.

I was involved in the Shed End project where a small team embarked on what proved to be a 4-year project to bring back a stand, in the Marston Road ground. Over £60k raised, planning permission achieved, various fund raisers organised, and future proof designed stand built at the end of 2018! A legacy left by all involved and something we can look at each time we enter the ground!

During my time involved with the club, I increased the Club's social media platforms more than doubling the Facebook following, increasing Twitter by around 5000 followers, and regularly consulting with fans, feeding back their thoughts about the club website, and implementing changes to the Club website.

Having stepped away from my main role as fans representative to concentrate more time on my own business, I decided to take on the role of Lottery agent to continue to help build on the Club's infrastructure.
