Innovating through challenging times...

Friends all our lives but temporarily losing touch, Mark Sproston and myself met up again when I was working on our The Real Full Monty – Stafford, show. Mark is a big-hearted fella and offered to help promote the show by getting involved in shaving the men from the show. I attended a training school as part of the build-up, which led to me working as a model assisting trainees.


The Shavedoctor brand of skin care has been built over many years and Mark has visited many countries, training barbers and hairdressers in the art of wet shaving and developing his excellent brand to an extremely high quality. When I launched my own marketing business in late 2019, Mark took notice, knew I was committed and we had a chat and I eventually became part of a three-man team to start looking at branding, products, and marketing. I have learned from each person I have worked with and Mark’s thirty-plus years developing his own business is an education.


New Product launch

A Summer 2020 product launch of the re-brand was planned, and Mark had even started using derma-blading treatment on ladies, with this being massively popular. Then Covid-19 and all that it brought with it, came along! Supply chains changed, communications changed, and we were very much restricted in our aims. Quite a daunting position but we put our heads together and Mark spoke to his suppliers and soon “Shave Doctor - Protective Products”, was launched.


Hand sanitiser with added softeners, rather than the harsh bottles of alcohol that flooded the market, plus surface cleaners and face masks, including see through visors that we were some of the first to sell and they appeared on BBC after being supplied, so that became part of another promotion clip!


These products kept the reach high for our social media platforms, sales kept cash flow moving for the business and we stayed occupied ensuring the business survived. We are now concentrating on getting that final branding and marketing completed for a 2021 launch!
